Q: Will I get a job right after graduation?
A: Yes, we currently have graduates reporting for airline training within three days of graduation.
Q: Why come to Florida Institute of Technology?
A: Lots of good reasons. The best of all of them is that we won the award for being the safest flight school in the United States. Including the military academies. There is nothing more important. NOTHING! Come see our Trophies.
Q: What do I do if I already have my private pilot’s license?
A: The College will need a copy of you license and then you will have to meet with your advisor in order to determine what course you should take next.
Q: Does Florida Tech accept flight training done at other facilities?
A: A student may be given credit towards the curriculum requirements of a course for previous pilot experience and knowledge, provided the following conditions are met:
· If the training was provided by a part 141-approved training course, credits will be given for the previous pilot experience and knowledge up to 50 percent of the curriculum requirements. If the FAA written test was successfully completed, the student may receive 100% credit for the ground school. The student will be subject to a proficiency test and/or knowledge test.
· If the training was NOT provided by a part 141-approved training course, credits will be given for the previous pilot experience and knowledge up to 25 percent of the curriculum requirements (both ground school and flight experience). The student will be subject to a proficiency test and/or knowledge test.
Q: What kind of planes will I be flying?
A: The College is currently in the process of upgrading their planes.
Q: Will I begin my flight training my first semester at Florida Tech?
A; Yes. Unlike other flight schools, Florida Tech allows you to start flying during your first semester.
Q: Should I get a medical certificate before coming to Florida Tech?
A: Yes. Getting a medical certificate helps speed up the registration process at the airport. Visit
http://www.faa.gov/pilots/amelocator/ to locate an Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) near you. Make sure to ask for a “Medical with Student Pilot Certificate”. Don’t forget to bring your medical certificate during check-in at the airport.
Q: How much will it cost for my flight training?
A: Charges for the use of aircraft and flight devices, flight instruction and fuel usage will be charged against a deposit on the student’s Panther Card. A billing rate has been set for each type of aircraft, flight device and flight instruction. Fuel charges will be based on the price at the time of usage. The charge will be based on actual usage of the time of use.
