Welcome to the College of Aeronautics at Florida Institute of Technology. Located on
the Atlantic coastline, Brevard County offers its residents year-round sunshine and
outdoor recreation. Florida Tech is only 5 miles from the beaches and 76 miles from
Orlando's Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure. Centrally located, Florida Tech is
also just miles from Cape Canaveral, Daytona Beach, and Ft. Lauderdale.
The College of Aeronautics employs 14 faculty, 6 adjunct faculty and has 4 administrative
positions. Our college has over 300 undergraduate and graduate students. We offer
Bachelor of Science degrees in Aeronautical Science, Aeronautical Science Flight Option,
Aviation Computer Science, Aviation Management, Aviation Management Flight Option,
Aviation Meteorology, and Aviation Meteorology Flight
Option. Our Master of Science in Aviation
degrees are Aviation Airport Development and Management and Applied Aviation Safety
and a Master of Science degree in Aviation Human Factors.

The College of Aeronautics is seeking three full time faculty members for its undergraduate and graduate programs. Two selected applicants should be in place by January 3, 2012 for the Spring semester, one by August 6, 2012 for the Fall semester.
(1) Aeronautical Science Faculty Position Responsibilities:
• Teach aeronautical science and technology undergraduate courses as assigned such as: aviation chemical sciences; aviation physiology; aviation physical sciences; aerodynamics; aviation meteorology; advanced aircraft systems, advanced aircraft operations, airline operations, aviation security, general aviation, private, instrument, commercial, and/or instructor pilot ground schools.
• Advise undergraduate and graduate students on academic matters and career planning.
• Teach selected courses in person and via distance learning in international and domestic extended campus programs.
• Serve on division, college, and university committees as assigned.
• Teach graduate courses according to qualifications.
• Obtain external funding for and conduct research in contemporary aviation-related issues.
• Supervise students conducting scholarly activities.
Desired Qualifications:
• Doctoral degree in a field applicable to aviation or commitment to pursue such a degree.
• University teaching experience, extensive aviation experience, current pilot qualifications.
• Experience in successful funded research proposal writing and program management.
• FAA Advanced Ground Instructor (or CFI) and Instrument Ground Instructor (or CFII) certificates.
• Experience in Air Traffic Control desirable
• Experience in Meteorology desirable
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor and Master’s degrees in technical or scientific fields such as engineering.
• Experience in fields applicable to aviation and teaching experience.
• Ability to apply current instructional technology in classroom and distance learning.
(2) Aviation Management Faculty Position Responsibilities:
• Teach aviation management undergraduate courses as assigned such as: aviation planning; airport design; aviation advanced computer applications; AutoCAD for airport environments; airport management, aviation fiscal management, general aviation, air transportation, airline business simulation, and transportation logistics.
• Advise undergraduate and graduate students on academic matters and career planning.
• Teach selected courses in person and via distance learning in international and domestic extended campus programs.
• Serve on division, college, and university committees as assigned.
• Teach airport development and management graduate courses according to qualifications.
• Obtain external funding for and conduct research in contemporary aviation-related issues.
• Supervise students conducting scholarly activities.
Desired Qualifications:
• Doctoral degree in a field applicable to aviation or commitment to pursue such a degree.
• University teaching experience, extensive aviation experience, current pilot qualifications.
